DORMA Acquires Carolina Door Controls

Creates the world’s largest supplier of automatic door equipment and services

REAMSTOWN, Pa. - In its continuing commitment to deliver advanced automatic door technology with responsive service, DORMA has acquired Carolina Door Controls, Inc. (CDC) of Durham, N.C., creating the world’s largest supplier of automatic door equipment and services. CDC will become part of DORMA Group North America, which provides a wide range of products for the commercial architectural openings industry.

A respected automatic door sales and service organization, CDC operates 20 branch offices in several major markets throughout the Eastern United States to sell, install and service automatic door products and entrance systems for commercial and industrial applications.

The addition of CDC to DORMA Group North America dramatically strengthens DORMA’s presence in the automatic doors category in both product and service capabilities. It has the potential to broaden exposure for DORMA products through the strong relationships CDC has with its customers. Further, the acquisition supports DORMA’s business model of working with independently owned automatic door distributors in select markets and through factory-direct branches in other areas.

Independent of the CDC purchase, the DORMA Automatics division had already begun building on DORMA’s legacy of European market leadership in automatic doors. Plans for 2005 include an enhanced customer support program in 2005 and the introduction of products including hurricane doors, ICU doors and new swing door operators.
